This keynote was delivered at our Learning by Making event in Los Angeles by Jenny Kostka, former pi-top Learning Designer.
Jenny has over 12 years' of experience as a high school teacher, mostly at the South Shore Charter Public School. In this talk, she shares the mistakes that sometimes educators make with learning by making, including herself.
We want to give our learners agency, the ability to express themselves and all of that is great, but we can sometimes fall into this trap of giving our students too much freedom. We say things like "follow your passion", "make whatever you want" and what we fail to give them in that instance is a starting point, like a platform, where they can take off with a little bit of substance behind them.
We’ll release a new talk recorded at our Learning by Making event over the next few weeks so stay tuned or subscribe to our YouTube channel.
